Euro Asian University is committed to making the world a better place by encouraging students to take up performing arts, such as music and dance, as their hobbies or careers.

Our comprehensive syllabus ensures a well-rounded education across eight categories: Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Saxophone, Violin, Flute, Eastern and Western Vocals.

Graduate and post-graduate students in performing arts can become eligible teachers after practical exams and viva voce. PhD programs are available as per university policy and scholar assessment.

Syllabus

Beginner Level: Age 6+ (Duration: Four Months)

  • Identification of instrument components.
  • Identifying notes and basic definitions.
  • Playing 5 major chords and three minor chords on the Guitar.
  • Three basic rhythm patterns.
  • Identification of instrument components.
  • Structure of music and identification of notes.
  • Four basic Left Hand and Right Hand exercises.
  • Three basic songs along with three major scales.
  • Identification of instrument components.
  • One major scale.
  • Two pieces freehand or notation.
  • Identification of instrument components.
  • Three basic rhythm exercises.
  • Identification of two time signatures.
  • Two songs accompaniment.
  • Identification of instrument components.

History & origin of Hip-Hop culture (4 elements)

  • Basic hip-hop terminology
  • Importance of bounce,
  • Groove & freestyle
  • Dress code & safety.

Practical

Basic grooves: Two-step, Bart Simpson, Steve Martin 4  foundational movements:

  • Bounce, Rock, Isolations,
  • Basic footwork
  • Body coordination & rhythm
  • 1 short freestyle + 1 beginner routine (1–2 mins)

🎵 Music & Rhythm

  • Understanding beat (8-counts)
  • Music genres used in hip-hop
  • Basic timing drills Assessment

Name and demonstrate 5 steps. Show freestyle for 30 seconds. Answer 5 oral theory questions

Beginner Level (White Belt to Yellow/Orange)

Kihon (Basics):

  • Stances: Heiko-dachi, Zenkutsu-dachi, Kiba-dachi
  • Punches: Choku-zuki, Gyaku-zuki, Oi-zuki
  • Blocks: Age-uke, Soto-uke, Uchi-uke, Gedan-barai
  • Kicks: Mae-geri (front kick), Yoko-geri (side kick), Mawashi-geri (roundhouse)

Kata (Forms):

  • Taikyoku Shodan / Heian Shodan

Kumite (Sparring):

  • Basic 1-step sparring

Other: Dojo etiquette, discipline, bowing, meditation

Intermediate Syllabus

Age 6+ (Duration: Eight Months)
  • Identification of all root major and minor chords.
  • One song on lead guitar with backing track.
  • Basic definition of triads and bar chords.
  • One major scale.
  • Identification of major or minor scale by ear.
  • Two-hand independence exercises.
  • Two songs on minor scales with accompaniment.
  • Two major scales.
  • Three pieces freehand or notation (total three minutes).
  • Three basic patterns with at least two different fills.
  • Identification of time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 6/8) by ear.
  • Two song accompaniments (one swing and one rock song).
  • Two basic songs with backing track.
  • Two major and one minor scale.
  • Identification of scale (minor or major) by ear.
  • Two songs with backing track.
  • Breath control test (8 seconds minimum).
  • Matching and finding root notes of songs played by examiner.

Focus: Foundation styles, control, and musicality.

Theory

  • Styles within Hip-Hop (Popping, Locking, Breaking, House)
  • Dancer etiquette in cyphers/battles
  • Counting music & tempo
  • Terminologies: “Toprock”, “Downrock”, “Freeze”, etc.

Practical

  • Foundation combos from:
    Locking (e.g., Wrist roll, Lock, Point)
  • Popping (Hits, Dime Stops, Fresno)
  • Breaking (Toprock + 1 transition move)
  • 1 group choreography + solo freestyle (1.5 mins)
  • Spatial awareness & transitions
  • Mirror exercises & isolations

🎵 Music & Rhythm

  • Interpretation of rhythm layers
  • Slow vs fast tempo dancing
  • Use of pauses & accents

Assessment

  • 10 theory questions + 2 visual ID (show style & name it)
  • Perform 2 style-specific combos
  • 1-minute freestyle to random track

⁠Intermediate Level (Green to Blue Belt)

Kihon:

  • Advanced combinations of punches, kicks, and blocks
  • Spinning techniques (Ushiro-geri, spinning backfist)
  • Sweeps and take-downs

Kata:

  • Heian series (Nidan, Sandan, Yondan, Godan)
  • Tekki Shodan

Kumite:

  • 3-step and free sparring

Other: Conditioning, focus training, controlled breathing

Advanced Syllabus

Duration: Sixteen Months
  • Bar chords as required by the examiner.
  • Major and minor pentatonic scales.
  • Identification and knowledge of chord family and progression.
  • One western classical piece.
  • Two pop songs of candidate’s choice with Left Hand and Right Hand rhythm accompaniment.
  • All root major scales.
  • Three major and two minor scales.
  • One violin piece with or without accompaniment (metronome is mandatory if candidate doesn’t wish to play with backing track).
  • Three rock songs in different time signatures (song to be submitted beforehand).
  • Identification of time signatures 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, 7/8 by ear (songs to be selected by the examiner).
  • Three basic songs with backing track (one basic song with scale change).
  • Three major and two minor scales.
  • One rock, one pop, and one jazz with backing track (songs to be submitted beforehand).
  • Match and find root note/note accuracy of songs played by examiner.
  • Three advanced vocal runs and riffs.

Focus: Style blending, performance, and battle readiness.

Theory

  • Deep dive into sub-styles (Animation, Boogaloo, Waving, House)
  • Hip-hop history: DJs, MCs, B-Boys/B-Girls, Graffiti
  • Role of choreography vs freestyle
  • Stage presence, musical storytelling

Practical

  • 2 advanced routines (group & solo)
  • Style mastery: Choose 2 (e.g., Popping + Locking)
  • Power moves (if into breaking)
  • Partner formations, cypher entry
  • Original freestyle (2 mins)

🎵 Music & Rhythm

  • Beatboxing structure & music analysis
  • Dancing on lyrics vs percussion vs bassline
  • Use of silence, tempo switch

Assessment

  • Write 1-page about your style journey
  • Choreograph 8 counts to a given song (on the spot)
  • Participate in mock battle (1v1 or group)

⁠Intermediate Level (Green to Blue Belt)

  • Multiple Rhythm patterns to be played on songs given.
  • Three Fingerpicking patterns.
  • Three different voicings or patterns of any particular chord.
  • All root major and minor scales.
  • Two songs with complete rhythm selection, accompaniment, and filler music pieces with memory function change of tones.
  • One song with chords accompaniment on both left and right hands.
  • Four major and three minor scales.
  • Identification of played songs if in major or minor scales.
  • Three pieces freehand (to be intimated in advance to the examiner).
  • Knowledge on grooves such as swing, Goan, Disco, Jazz, Shuffle, Samba.
  • Play along on songs chosen by the examiner (identification of correct time signature and tempo).
  • All root major and three minor scales.
  • Two western and one Indian pieces to be performed.
  • Identification of key of song played by examiner.
  • Identification of major or minor key of songs chosen by examiner.
  • Four examples of songs shifting between different vocal techniques (chest, head, falsetto).
  • Improvisation over any song chosen by the candidate.

Focus: Choreography, teaching, innovation, and professional polish.

Theory

  • Choreography composition methods
  • How to teach beginners & structure classes
  • Professional ethics: copyrights, collaboration, branding
  • The global hip-hop scene & competitions (e.g., Red Bull BC One, Juste Debout)

Practical

  • Original choreography (3–5 mins)
  • Dance film concept OR live performance project
  • Mastery of transitions, dynamics, use of props
  • Multiple freestyle rounds across styles

🎵 Music & Rhythm

  • Custom music editing
    Experimenting with non-hip-hop genres (fusion work)
  • Advanced musicality techniques

Assessment

  • Presentation on a chosen hip-hop icon or style
  • Live teaching demo (to beginner group)
  • Final exam: Stage show, battle, and choreography evaluation

Black Belt Level (Dan Ranks)

Kihon:

  • Mastery of speed, timing, and precision

Kumite:

  • High-level sparring with strategy and control
  • Weapons defense (in some schools)

Other:

  • Philosophy of karate
  • Teaching skills
  • Contribution to dojo and community

Art Syllabus

Duration: Twenty-Four Months

Beginner Level (4 Months)

Objective: Introduce basic drawing and coloring skills.

Focus Areas:

  • Basic shapes and patterns.
  • Primary colors and mixing.
  • Simple objects (e.g., fruits, flowers, animals).

Monthly Topics and Activities:

  • Month 1: Lines and Shapes – Draw and color geometric shapes (circle, square).
  • Month 2: Basic Nature Drawing – Create a simple tree with flowers and leaves.
  • Month 3: Object Representation – Draw and color a bowl of fruits.
  • Month 4: Simple Landscapes – Sketch a sunrise scene with hills and clouds.

Intermediate Level (8 Months)

Objective: Develop realistic drawing and shading techniques.

Focus Areas:

  • Light and shadow.
  • Perspective and depth.
  • Human and animal forms.

Monthly Topics and Activities:

  • Months 1-2: Shading Techniques – Sketch a cube with shading from a light source.
  • Months 3-4: Perspective Drawing – Draw a simple building with one-point perspective.
  • Months 5-6: Human Form Basics – Draw a human figure in standing and sitting poses.
  • Months 7-8: Nature Scene with Depth – Sketch a river scene with trees and a bridge.

Advanced Level (16 Months)

Objective: Refine artistic style, texture, and detail.

Focus Areas:

  • Advanced textures (e.g., fur, fabric, glass).
  • Complex compositions.
  • Portraits and wildlife.

Monthly Topics and Activities:

  • Months 1-4: Advanced Textures – Create a drawing of a cat emphasizing fur texture..
  • Months 5-8: Portrait Drawing – Draw a detailed portrait of a person from a photograph.
  • Months 9-12: Wildlife Art – Sketch a bird in flight with feathers in detail.
  • Months 13-16: Complex Compositions – Design a still-life setup with multiple objects and textures.

Expert Level (24 Months)

Objective: Master personal style and create original artwork.

Focus Areas:

  • Abstract and modern art.
  • Large-scale compositions.
  • Professional portfolio preparation.

Monthly Topics and Activities:

  • Months 1-6: Abstract Art and Experimentation – Create a non-representational artwork with bold colors.
  • Months 7-12: Master Studies – Recreate a masterpiece (e.g., Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”).
  • Months 13-18: Personal Style Development – Create an original art piece representing personal themes.
  • Months 19-24: Portfolio Preparation – Compile 5-10 pieces of original work for exhibition.
